Building Substation Earthing Design and Earthing Commissioning – Hobart
Overview
C5 was awarded the role of earthing design and testing commissioning engineers for the major development of the first Hyatt Hotel in Hobart Tasmania.
The Problem
Our client engaged C5 to undertake the detailed earthing design through modelling validation, to assess earthing compliance to the applicable standards and design target parameters for the new Hyatt Hotel. At the time of the engagement, the hotel’s foundation was already under construction, which did not allow for standard localised earthing installation for the hotel’s new building type substation. The new substation location was also located several levels above ground level. C5 was able to use our extensive expertise in practical earthing design to accommodate the onsite constraints and develop an overall compliant integrated earthing system for the site.
Get in TouchThe Solution
C5 was able to offer our expertise in detailed earthing design and commissioning testing for the proposed new building type substation which included services such as:
- End to End project management between all stakeholders – consultants, contractors and network service provider
- Detailed analytical assessment of supplied soil resistivity measurements
- Review of surrounding infrastructure for the purposes of transfer voltage assessment
- Derivation of fault current distribution analysis and worst case fault scenario for the purposes of deriving earthing performance and safety criteria
- Development of CDEGS MALZ models and corresponding results
- Development of Issued for Construction drawings including multi story earthing integration
- Collation of numerous earthing design components within a detailed earthing design report
- Off Frequency current injection testing to ensure the earthing design meets industry best practice and safety compliance
- Construction support through the implementation phase
